Blacker The Berry Juicery is a natural juice company and community-focused movement working at the intersection of health, food access, and social justice. Its mission is to inspire international connection through wellness, with each purchase helping support food-system practices that improve the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
While freelancing with Abike Studio, I was tasked with designing and developing the brand’s e-commerce website. The goal was to create a digital experience that felt bold, interactive, and welcoming while clearly communicating the purpose behind the products. I developed the site’s visual direction through a vibrant color palette, expressive typography, and a collection of custom illustrations. Each element was designed to reflect the energy and optimism of the brand while making its larger mission feel approachable rather than overly institutional.
The website balanced storytelling and commerce. Alongside presenting the juice collection, it introduced visitors to the organization’s values, community work, and belief in health as a tool for connection and positive change. This allowed the shopping experience to feel closely tied to the impact behind each purchase.
The custom illustrations gave the site a more personal and recognizable voice, while bold layouts and interactive details helped create the lively experience the client envisioned. The visual system was carried consistently across product pages, brand storytelling, and calls to action.
I developed the website in Squarespace and used custom CSS and JavaScript to extend the platform beyond its standard templates and bring the design to life. My role included art direction, web design, illustration, typography, front-end customization, and e-commerce implementation.
The final site gave Blacker The Berry Juicery an online presence that felt true to its identity while making its products, mission, and community impact easier to explore.
